Hi All,

While visiting Canon webpages to look for a faster flatbed scanner, I
read:

 * Windows 98 systems operate at USB 1.1 speed only.

The scanners have LIDE 500f and CanoScan 8400F, have a slightly
different notes about this, but both seem to imply that Win98 (no
mention of Win98SE) will only work at USB1 speed.

I have a PCI card with USB2 ports and have used it under Win98SE with
CF card reader, but had to tell what speed was in effect.

Is there something inherent in Win98/Win98se that prevents devices
from working at USB2 speeds?

Or is the Canon driver perhaps written in such a way, as to downgrade
the speed?

Regards,

Rich
