My ideal 64-bit AMD mobo was one that had both AGP-Pro and PCIe
support so that I wouldn't have to lose the investment in my ATI AIW 9600 Pro
AGP pro vid card.

But such is the case that the newer 64-bit socket 939 with AGP-pro may be hard
to
find BTW I did check ATI's website for a PCIe x16 version of an AIW card which
is
an AIW 2006 PCI express. I looked in the ati website under Products, Multimedia
for the AIW cards
I've read about the PCIe spec and I'll have to admit to I'll have to bite the
bullet and go with it.
I have 4 SATA cables and a current 450w PSU inside my working PC which supports
power for SATA.

A few months back as far as the wayback machine can take me I can remember
someone making
a similar suggestion of a similar Gigabyte family mobo GA-K8N Ultra-9 of one or
two revs ago.
To my review of the specs they impress me. I have an Allied PSU model
AL-A400ATX 400W which
can handle a P4 system since it has the special 4 prong +12v yellow-black wired
connector. It doesn't
have power connections for a SATA HD but I can get some D connectors to SATA
convert power cables from Office Depo and Staples of which I saw last weekend.

If I read you right, you are looking for a socket 939 board with AGP-Pro for
the video? Good luck. All the newer 939 boards I have seen come with
PCIexpress 16 for the video (single or SLI). ATI does sell an AIW for the
PCIexpress x16, so you might want to look into that.

I have had good luck with a Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-9 (non-SLI version with
2-SATA 150 and 4-SATA 300 sockets) and AMD San Diego 3700+ chip (purchased
before the dual cores were introduced). Memory seems pretty cheap. I could
get 2 G for what I paid for 1 gig about 2 years ago. With the top tier
motherboards, it comes down to a matter of bells and whistles available and
personal bias. You probably wouldn't go wrong with any of the top tier that
match your needs. But, of course, YMMV and this is just my opinion.

On a side note, I found my cpu overheated with the stock HSF unit from AMD.
I upgraded to a Thermaltake Big Typhoon with great results.
