Hi
After I installed Windows OneCareT Live beta, my limited acct. became much more limited and blank media was not seen ( cd's, cdrw's, dvd-r+r rw) and rws could not be erased.
Nothing could be written because the drives were empty(they were not empty)!
This was fixed by installing Nero BurnRights, blank media was now seen and could be erased
and written.

Subject: HARD: cdrw's invisible
why would a friend's PC NOT be able to see blank cdrws, but it can once
I have burnt something to them? Both Windows & Nero fail to
see the blanks, but once he CAN see the cd/files, he still can't erase
the disk, either in windows or Nero ? Dodgy cable ?

when my first xp home updated version was installed +-5 yrs ago the cd drives
would not read the blank preformatted
verbatim cd rw discs -they were factory formatted for win 95/98- they had to be
reformatted with windows xp/easycd
before they would work properly - Wayne will likely add to this because he has
mentioned many times how roxio really
screwed up with the initial xp/roxio connection

but they would read the data that i had put on some disks but i could not write
to them -- i had to copy and paste the
material to HD then reformat to make them writeable

dont know if this info will help you or not
