Thank you for the response. You advise, accepting all Office updates,
understood, but I only installed "2" (Word & Excell) of the "6" Office 2002
programs.
I have seen updates for Outlook, but do not have, etc. Could there be
components in the Outlook updates and others that I did not install that
might be beneifical to the Word & Excell that I did install. Your thoughts.

It will also be tempting to update drivers. Sometimes this works well
and sometimes it doesn't. That's because some mobo manufacturers tweak
the drivers to meet the specifics of their mobo and the stock drivers
don't work well. Still, you can try them, just be prepared to go
back to a previous restore point.
I'd also advise, accept _all_ of the Office updates, because many of
those updates are in fact security fixes, that may not show up in the
regular Windows update.
The rest are optional, but for XP at least, they seem generally OK.
