Golden rule is "don't use rechargeable batteries if you need 2.5v and
over.  Best to use something like (if you are a cheapo) Duracell Ultra
lasts months and months and months.  Some lithium cells will last for
years but the voltage is iffy 1.2 or 1.3 = 2.4 or 2.6 whereas a Duracell
x2 = 3.4 for ages.
