You didn't clarify what you don't like about Direcway -- I have it
and absolutely love it. It is reliable, fast, and you get used to
the propagation delays [even for interactive ssh stuff]. I consistently
get download speeds well in excess of the promised "up to" limit, and
the FAP is hardly a problem [you need to tune your expectations, of
course: I won't try to download a 600 meg ISO image].

BUT: in chasing around on the satellite forums [which would probably
be a better place for you to ask about this kind of thing -- try
DSLreports] it seems that a very high correlate with how well/poorly a sa
t
setup is perceived has to do with the quality of the installer. Poorly

mounted and/or not well aimed dishes seem to be the biggest cause of flak
y
service [if that's what your beef with direcway is]. In fact, there have

been times when our DISH tv-feed has been having troubles, but my direcwa
y
connection just soldiered right along. Altogether, my feeling about sat
in
general and direcway in particular, in comparison to dialup, is "why did
I
wait so long"....
