Yes, the 'modifier' key is just labelled "fn" on my laptop.

I'll do that.  From what I can see, the only 'fn's that are defined at 
the moment are: 1: dim the display, 2: brighten the display, 5: switch to 
external monitor, 8: enable number pad and 12: hibernate.  I don't see 
any obivious rhyme nor reason to the supplied functions nor their key 
assignments...  oh well...
