Thanks Diane.

But I think I might have found a work around subsuquent to me sending my
original message.

I had forgot that up until a couple of months ago I had a copy of contacts
in my Yahoo account. I just installed the free Intellisync app and simply
sync'd up my Yahoo account with my laptop Outlook account.

I was then able to perform an Active Sync sync to my smartphone and was able
to get the contacts back on it as well.

Not sure what really happened but it started when I signed up for an online
(internet based) Exchange Server account. Do you think that could have
written over my contacts and dates??

Thanks!!

David

they are in the contacts folder - how are you restoring them?

possible methods include:
1) open an backup using file, open, outlook data file and from the folder
list (ctrl+6) go to the contacts folder - drag the contacts to the new
cotacts folder.
2) if you restored by reverting to the back up pst. right click on the
contact folder, choose properties and add a check to show as address book
(address book tab)
