Modern printers are "trojan horses" of a different kind. Main
purpose is to empty your wallet.
I have experienced a similar thing on an Epson. Cleaning cycle used
up one of the ink colors and the whole thing shut down. Would not
work even when I disabled color printing - which it seems did not
imapct the cleaning cycle.
What little printing I do these days is on an old HP Laserjet. Same
toner cart, going on 6 years.
