And besides, someone challenged me! I'm hoping I can gather enough
information to write a better how-to than what I've been able to
find. You could make a big contribution!
Why when I find the current documentation to be acceptable?
Why do you want to write a better How to when I thought you had a
problem to solve?
In solving the problem, I can then generate the documentation.
The problem with all How-To documentation is that they almost never
tell you When To.
Well, Wayne, why not generalize a little? :-)
The beginner books or How to for Idiots will tell you to do step 1
then 2 then 3 but then you don't know why you're doing this or that &
then they never learn to think like the programmers or a computer.
Why should a user think like a programmer or a computer? Do you automobile
drivers think like engine designers or mechanics? No! Why not? They just want
to get from A to B.
I've got clients with tons of How To books yet they still call me.
It's good for you that so many how-to books are so poorly written! What's your
favorite?
