This reminded me about FON (http:/www.fon.com).
You sign up and then you can access FON worldwide access points. This
user type is known as an Alien.
As a WiFi Router owner you sign up and purchase a modified (and
discounted at last check) Linksys router which is used to allow other
FON users access - you can choose to give it away (a Linus) or charge
people (a Bill) and receive 50% of the fees collected.

I've not done this as I can't think of a time I'd need it but I have
considered being a Bill :)
Though I think they're only allowing Linuses at present.

Anyone here doing this?

Yesterday I noticed a "hot spot finder".

I think the range was 500 feet in "clear areas".

Are there better ones?

I don't understand that much about WiFi, but, in keeping with what you
said above, what good will it do to find a "hot spot", if you can't use it?

We travel a lot, and that would be ideal...............but only if one can
connect.

I suppose it would only be good to locate "commerical" hot spots where
one could "pay to use".

Thanks,

Jim
