Hi Russ,

I also have a Linksys router (WAG54G). The set-up is via a browser interface, so you could hook it up to a PC (any router LAN port cabled to a PC's LAN port, just the 2 of them, no Internet), just to see what it looks like. URL for the router is: http://192.168.1.1/ in my case. There's stuff in there which is self-explanatory, but a whole bunch which is +/- hermetic, so RTFM! As suggested, get the connection to yr son's LT working with no security to start with, then add stuff as you understand what to do. Note that you can save the router's config to disk. When changing names & pwds, unless you have perfect short-term memory, write them down temporarily *before* clicking on "confirm/OK"! BTW, the first test of the Wifi link could be to get into the set-up pages of the router. In your case, the router & LT adapter are just being used as a 2-way transmitter/receiver, replacing several meters of cable. When yr son start bringing his Wifi buddies round to "play", you may find yourself adding MACs (not big ones ;-) to the white list. It's all in the book.

HTH,

Richard.be (who no longer has a secret Wifi buddy - just checked!).

Hi Carl & Jeff,

It is a Linksys wireless - G with USB kit and speed booster / Model #WKUSB54GS And the Notebook adapter is a Linksys wireless - G / Model#WPC54GS with speed booster.

The links provided by Jeff look promising, I am going to read through those tomorrow. BTW I did find the manual tucked away on the CD, I'll dig through that tomorrow too. A quick little scan didn't find anything about two routers though (it might be hidden in there though) but I'll tinker with it tomorrow.

thanks for the replies, they have been very helpful.
Russ
