Greetings...
I'm looking for a simple (freeware) file copy program that doesn't have to
be
installed to work with a WinXP SP2 system.
I want to copy files back and forth from my desktop to a central server
and while
Windows Explorer can do this it seems to be missing a "No to All"
function. It
offers "Yes" "Yes to All" and "No" while copying files to a location where
there is
already a file with the same name. It gets tedious to keep going Alt-N as
Explorer
goes through a long list of files. I don't want to copy anything already
in the
copy-to folder. I'm trying to synchronize (in a very crude fashion) the
two
locations of my office files.
I've found MS SyncToy somewhat of a problem -- it seems to want to
overwrite a lot
of files which should be the same and not replaced, perhaps because I have
manually
saved the same file to different locations resulting in a different time.
I'm just
not confident in the result of using SyncToy. I don't want to use a
program like
Karen's Replicator because of the installation requirement. I don't know
enough
about XP's built-in Synchronize function.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions. Yes, I can Google up a list a
programs;
however, I like recommendations from list members that I know and trust.
Look at unsing the builtin XCOPY from a command prompt. If this is a regular
thing that you need to do, write a little command script and execute it
through Task Scheduler.
