The number and type of beeps (short/long) tells you what the problem is. So if you can get an accurate reporting of the beeps, you can figure out what is wrong by RTFMM (Motherboard Manual).

Monitor = old 12" tft and newer 15" TFT both tested on laptop and work Ok. so this has been eliminated from dysfunction. Symptoms - fault. Suddenly monitor flickers and dies. Reboot and Ok then flickers and dies. Left a while reboot Ok but flickering then blank..... So far - case opened and all fans running so POWER = OK (maybe) AGP card pulled, contacts wiped clean and reseated. Memory pulled cleaned and reseated. CPU Fan removed and cleaned then heatsink removed and cleaned. All replaced and computer powered up.... BEEEEEEEP Beep. No vid. I intend taking a new AGP card out to Spain on Saturday but a quick response as to what else might be required - space is limited in suitcase so be sensible?
