The cable perhaps - I've had several calls for failed TFT screen that a new
interface cable fixed
and one with the mini-mains connections that have been stressed to the point
where they were not making a secure contact.

Also:
It's worth resetting the system to VGA mode before you start altering video
boards and displays,
They should all work to the basic VGA mode, and if the system is set to VGA
before the change it may avoid having to use safe mode etc. after changing
the system

Subject: Help req quick... Loss of video -----------

Hi folks

Computer is in Alicante Spain - I am in UK south coast so diagnosis crap
but here is the info I have.

Computer is Novatech (UK maker) with EliteGroup MOBO and P4 2.3 CPU 512
Mb memory nothing spectacular but 2 x CD/DVD RW 160GB Hdd.

Monitor = old 12" tft and newer 15" TFT both tested on laptop and work
Ok. so this has been eliminated from dysfunction.

Symptoms - fault. Suddenly monitor flickers and dies. Reboot and Ok
then flickers and dies. Left a while reboot Ok but flickering then
blank.....

So far - case opened and all fans running so POWER = OK (maybe)

AGP card pulled, contacts wiped clean and reseated. Memory pulled
cleaned and reseated. CPU Fan removed and cleaned then heatsink removed
and cleaned. All replaced and computer powered up....

BEEEEEEEP Beep. No vid.

I intend taking a new AGP card out to Spain on Saturday but a quick
response as to what else might be required - space is limited in
suitcase so be sensible?
