She can setup the comcast account without installing the Comcast software by directly pointing her browser to their website. She should direct connect to the cable modem before switching to WAP.
Point the browser to Comcast HSI http://www.comcast.net/comcast.html Then click on My Account to set up her e-mail and password and other preferences. All she would need to require is her account number from her Comcast cable bill to setup the account.
