Well, when you say something you should do so with the facts: Windows XP Professional: Mainstream support will end two years after the next version of this product is released. Extended support will end five years after mainstream support ends. http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?LN=en-us&p1=3223&x=11&y=9 Windows XP Home Edition: Mainstream support will end two years after the next version of this product is released. http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=3221 XP Pro will have 5 years extended support OVER XP Home. Reason is that XP Home is classified as a consumer product, while XP Pro is a business product. http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifepolicy 21: The Support Lifecycle policy is designed to help take the guesswork out of the length of time Microsoft provides support for a product. For Business and Developer products, Microsoft standardizes a minimum of 10 years of support. The lifecycle combines 5 years of Mainstream support or 2 years after the successor product (N+1) is released, whichever is longer and 5 years Extended support or 2 years after the second successor product (N+2) is released, whichever is longer. For Consumer, Hardware, Multimedia, and Microsoft Dynamics products, Microsoft standardizes a minimum of 5 years of Mainstream support or 2 years after the successor product (N+1) is released, whichever is longer. Products that release new versions annually will receive 3 years of Mainstream support. Extended support is not offered for Consumer, Hardware, Multimedia, and Microsoft Dynamics products, and for products that release new versions annually. -- Arie Slob, MVP, Windows Shell/User http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ http://www.helpwithwindows.com http://www.windowsbbs.com http://www.windowsnewsletter.com -- ---------------------------------------- WIN-HOME Archives: http://PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM/archives/WIN-HOME.html Contact the List Owner about anything: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Official Win-Home List Members Profiles Page http://www.besteffort.com/winhome/Profiles.html
