I checked my retired Inspiron 8200, but its battery was not
on the suspect list. Darn, I wouldn't mind getting a new
laptop battery.
Which reminds me, I just got a voucher for $227 from
the Microsoft class action settlement. To collect, all I
need to do is send in proof that I purchased at least that
much in computer hardware and software over the past
three years. That shouldn't be difficult.

Dell Inc. said yesterday that it would recall 4.1 million lithium-ion batteries for laptop computers after several dangerous incidents in which the batteries burst into flames and damaged other property.

Thankfully I've not had a problems with the batteries for my Dell L400.
