I always believe in exhausting the possibilities to make "what I already own" work before giving up and buying a replacement.
Does this Lexar player support playlists? My Nokia phone has the same basic problem - even though I organize music into folders for each CD, the player can't distinguish between folders or do the semi-smart thing to allow "play all from this folder". However, it does support playlists, so I create a playlist for each CD. I would have checked whether the Lexar you have supports playlists before suggesting that, but since you didn't give us the make/model, that wasn't possible. In the alternative to iPod players category, Sandisk has just begun shipping the 2GB Sansa c250 player, available from Amazon for $87.95. Haven't used one myself but I know someone who has one and it has playlist capability at least. It's so new there isn't a whole lot of user comment out there, but a few have remarked about it at www.anythingbutipod.com. It came with a (free) Lexar MP3 (only MP3)flash Player. I had never used one of these audio devices before. I dragged and dropped some CD cda files after I converted them to MP3 using Nero conversion utility. The good news is that the audio is great; the bad news is that to get from say track 3 to track 157, you have to manually toggle 1 track at a time through each & every track, since the Lexar keeps tracks sequentially with no albums. The wife says "I'd like a Player where albums (and tracks) are hierarchical like in Windows Explorer so I can just drill down to the album or track I want to hear" using the toggle. I have spent hours looking on the Internet and there are a zillion different Players. My interest is in a flash (preferably using SD card) Player where you can toggle to an album and a track directly or some other way to get around easily in the stored Library of music in the Player. I would appreciate any advice/recommendations anyone might be able to give me to cut through the clutter. My only restriction is that I do not want to go with an iPod. I am willing to spend up to $200 for the Player. -- ---------------------------------------- To Change your email Address for this list, send the following message: CHANGE WIN-HOME your_old_address your_new_address to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Note carefully that both old and new addresses are required.
