The only choice you have here is to make a full backup of your original HD off
of Compaq1
using DVD's I hope and use your original OS software disk and reinstall
everything on the
HD in Compaq2.

Since Windows XP detects hardware changes in cpu and HD at minimum it creates
a new
HAL.DLL upon installation which means that the original HAL.DLL (hardware
Abstraction Layer)
that was created on the original HD on Compaq1 in which you've tried to swap
into Compaq2 isn't valid because
of the different CPU and HD it found in Compaq2.

You'll need to reinstall the whole system, OS software and HW drivers of
course. And don't forget WPA. ;)

Ok, so if I go ahead and say yes, what will I have to do. I still have the
origianl software that came with the OEM computer that I bought, but will I
need it and can I then go and use the Quick Restore disks that came with it
and restore it back to factory settings or did I blow that too? Am I stuck
with having to answer yes. It's just sitting here looking at me:>)
