Do this while your system is up and running the things you normally keep
running all the time:

1. Start/Run "taskmgr" OK
2. Click on the Performance tab
3. Look under Physical Memory for Total, Available, and System cache.

If (System cache + Available) < (Total / 2) , then you will probably see
some improvement.

And since you caused me to go check out the on-sale memory, I'll just say
that while it's probably OK for your XP2200+ requirements, I won't buy PNY
memory any more. I had one go bad and had to wait more than a month for
warranty replacement. Plus PNY requires a copy of the original receipt to
honor their lifetime warranty, not the case with Kingston (at least not the
last time I had to return one, a couple years ago).

Subject: Ram for Win2k

I have 512 MB ram in this Win2k machine. Will I see any
improvement by adding another 512 MB? I ask because Staples has
512 MB for $45 after rebate.
