well
(after much pouring over the dated linux code, the calls to objdump with
flags that disappeared 5 years ago, the dos assembly code I don't have a
clue about etc,...)
I tried the obvious hack of just comparing the two bits of compiled code
in the 32 bit startup routine, (which include __KERNEL_DS) and hacking
loadlin in biew (-d mode)
so at location 0x4212 of loadlin.exe
modify the sequence
b8 18 00 00 00 (movl $0x18,%eax)
to
b8 08 10 00 00 (movl $0x1008,%eax)
save and try.
DISCLAIMER - NO WARRANTY - if your system crashes and burns - tuff, mate
(but I am a little chuffed by this simple triumph, nonetheless)
