Well slackers have had to show their resourcefulness before with other
software releases - (though it does rankle, I agree, to have the oldest
stable-est distro described as 'non Mainstream' by Trelos & others).
There is however an excellent (:-)) FAQ on installing under Slack -
born of bitter experience (mainly mine!) - it's had over a thousand hits
so far I note. If you think it needs adding to (it was written some 7
months ago now) please let the authors know.

I presume you mean .tgz tarballs? But that stage is the easy one - use
rpm2tgz, then run pkgtool, and sh postinst_rpm.sh ...
