Thank you, thank you, thank you. My scanner is now scanning up a
storm and my Windows partition and dual-boot approach is soon going to
be a thing of the past.
I want to applaud the clear way in which you outlined the procedure.
If ever there was an example of how clear instructions are more useful
than quick descriptions this is that example.
When I first looked at it I was disappointed as I'd done "exactly"
what you'd done over the weekend and it didn't work. Then I looked
more closely and, because of the completeness of your description, I
realized that when I'd set the ecp1 port in my win configuration I'd
done it during the same winsetup session in which I'd installed the
port. Thus, I'd done it as root rather than as a normal user.
Obviously this would not work but only your description sent me down
the proper path.
