This happens if you try to move the window while it is resizing. A windows
session starts as a small dos window and once the windows device driver loads,
it tries to resize to the appropriately configured windows size. If however,
you are moving the window at this time, it seems that many window managers
then reset the size back to the startup size ignoring our X-clients request
to enlargen it. This seems to happen for frequently if you have interactive
window placement configured with your window manager.
I have opened a bug on this (I've experienced the problem myself). The internal
GNATS bug number is: Merge/456, but I am not sure when it will get fixed.
