I'm confused, I checked those symlinks and they existed and pointed to the 
correct places, so I thought I would try to start win4lin anyway (like I have 
every now and then for the last few days - just in case the problem has 
magicly fixed itself), and this time it worked. I have not changed anything 
on this system since the last few times I tried to start Win4Lin.
Oh well, at least it works again.
