Subject: Re: How to enable sound?

I recently upgraded from Win4Lin 1.0 to Win4Lin 2.0 on my Dell desktop
running RedHat 6.0 with a 2.2.16-3.win4lin kernel. I followed the audio
playback setup instructions in the Win4Lin 2.0 release notes:

  http://www.netraverse.com/products/win4lin/docs/Win4Lin-2.0-relnotes.php

and, amazingly, they worked, and now I have audio playback working under
Win4lin, interfaced to the commercial OSS Linux sound drivers I use to run
my OPL3-SA2 sound card. Note that, as advertised, midi files don't play
under Win4Lin and, as far as I know, recording is not yet supported. But I
am able to play mp3 and wav files, and content from the web using Internet
Explorer and Windows Media Player. I am still having some problems with
certain sound formats, such as Sun Audio (.au), that I can play under Linux,
and also some audio codecs associated with multi-media formats are not
working yet.
