Larry,
A couple of questions. I want to make sure I don't mess my system up. I
got out my RH7.0 disks and grabbed kernel.2.2.16-22.i686.rpm, thinking I
could install that. When I tried to run rpm I got a message stating that
only packages with major numbers <= 3 are supported by this version of rpm.

1) Was 'rpm -ihv kernel.2.2.16-22.i686.rpm' the right command?

2) Do I need to update rpm itself? I tried grabbing rpm-4.0-4.i386.rpm, ran
'rpm -Uvh rpm......' and got the same error message.

If you need an newer version of rpm to update rpm, then it seems like a
catch 22. I'm confused....

Thanks in advance,
Mark

Yes, that's the preferred way to do it Mark. Grab the patch, install
it, and then compile up a kernel for yourself. All of the kernel
patches are on their website.

Cheers --- Larry
