I agree about using the tar.gz or tar.bz2 file from kernel.org.  I've
never had any luck compiling a new kernel from Redhat's source rpms.  I
always go straight to the original source, apply just the patches I need
(Like win4lin, promise ide patch) and build it.  Works very well.
