Hello,

I am trying to install some vhdl software from Altera.com, Max+Plus II.
Unfortunately a condition of the license is that I must tell either my MAC
address or hard drive volume serial ID to receive a licence.dat file by
email. (I expect that some checksum is calculated with the number I give
them, and it is compared to the number on the machine I install the software
on.)

The hard drive volume serial id works for part of the software, but another
more specific part requires that i know the NIC's MAC address. i know that
win4lin uses magic to do networking.. and I tried my real ethernet mac
address and that didn't work. I got an error from the Altera software saying
what is on the attached .gif

it seems to be a problem with winsock.dll Can anyone think of a way around
this? or know what mac address win4lin would report if asked? it need not be
real, I guess.

Thank you,
Stephen.
