Here it is... hot off the presses.

As I've already written numerous times, I really like Win4Lin (was an
early /1.0 buyer, and upgraded to /2.0 as soon as it was available), but
I run VMware Workstation because the VM enables me to install
Hebrew-enabled Windows and Windows-applications; sadly, Win4Lin does
not, and most probably will not.
I think your missing an essential point here.  Win4Lin and VMWare are two very different products.  I think trying to play them off as competitors for the same market misses the mark.  VMWare does things that you can't do with Win4Lin because it operates at a lower level, but that comes at a significant cost that encompasses more than just dollars and cents.

At $299, VMware Workstation IS five times more expensive than
Win4Lin/2.0 -- but it's production-quality software, and you don't have
any of the problems that the reviewer encountered with VMware Express or
Win4Lin/2.  If you've got your own business (SOHO), or work for someone
else's company, it's just good-business to by VMware Workstation (and if
you're at an educational institution, VMware has special pricing).  The
bottom line is not to be "penny-wise, but pound-foolish" (or, as we say
in the US, "ya gotta spend money, to make money."
Sorry, I have to disagree.  VMWare has some pretty exotic capabilities.  But is paying through the nose (not only for the VMWare software, but also for the extensive hardware resources it requires) 'good business sense'.  I would question that.  I think that few businesses have a day to day need for Hebrew and such and using VMWare would be expensive overkill.  I really think that your bias is showing through pretty strongly here.

Still, I'm very interested in seeing Win4Lin/3...
I have both Win4Lin and VMWare and right now I am using neither personally.  Trust me, both are excellent products, and to arbitralily suggest that one is better than the other can only reflect bias.  Win4Lin indeed has some distinct advantages over VMWare in a number of areas.  I myself have been a critic of some aspects of Win4Lin recently on this very list, but to suggest that it is not production quality software is hogwash.
