I've been using TurboTax (Fed & State) to do my taxes. It installed
and ran fine, and when it came to download the State version from
Intuit (a 3.5M download for CA), this went fine, too. In fact
everything went great until I went to upload my returns to Intuit so
they could transmit them to the IRS and the Franchise Tax Board. The
upload went about half way through, then hung. The program wasn't
hung, just the upload. It seemed to get hung in exactly the same
place every time. I tried waiting for a while, but retrying just hung
in the same place. Closing and reopening TurboTax didn't make the
problem go away, nor did shutting down Win98 and restarting it.

My question is: did anyone else see this? It looks to me as if it
was caused by some funkiness in win4lin (the winsock?), since when I
bit the bullet and dual booted back to native Win98se, the upload went
first time without a hitch. Coupled with the problems I and others
have had with downloading stock data from Intuit, I suspect that
something Intuit is doing with the up/down-load is causing problems
for Win4Lin.

OTOH, all other up- and down-loads associated with TurboTax went
without a hitch under W4L.

Any ideas out there?
