I encountered a similar problem. I had hoped to do my taxes this
year under Win4Lin, but my attempts failed. With one Linux box connected
to my ISP and that box configured as my "gateway", attempts to fetch
the updates resulted in a hung process. I had to exit Windows to kill
that process. I know the connection was working because I could use
Windows telnet to reach an Internet site. Sadly, I had to reboot back
to Windows NT to complete my taxes.
