a followup on my previous post. even when in winsock mode, i am
still seeing noticeable timelags when doing various windows operations
(such as clicking the Start button, clicking on buttons in Quicken to
open an account register, etc). i decided to time some of these. i
just shutdown a win98 session. although i had no problems with lag of
the mouse, when i clicked on the start button (to initiate the shutdown),
i to almost 20 seconds before the button depressed! other examples: i
went to change something with my epson880 printer, so i opened the
printers folder, put the marker on the printer icon, and did a right
click. took over 10 seconds. what is nutzoid about this is that the
delays are unpredictable. has anyone else seen this? any ideas where
to look?
