In reviewing /root/w4l-install.log, I see:

Jun 04 23:09:43 panel_pkg_install.c:438 cpModUtils - Successfully
moved new insmod to /sbin.
Jun 04 23:09:43 panel_pkg_install.c:461 cpModUtils - Successfully
moved new rmmod to /sbin.
Jun 04 23:09:43 panel_pkg_install.c:502 cpModUtils - Successfully
moved new fix_X_config to /sbin.

This looked like the installation had replaced some of my existing
system utilities before the package was even installed.

However from the datestamp, both insmod and rmmod (a symlink) look like
they are still my original versions. There was a /sbin/fix_X_config
created, however it is an HTML document consisting of an error message:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
<HTML><HEAD>
<TITLE>404 Not Found</TITLE>
</HEAD><BODY>
<H1>Not Found</H1>
The requested URL /ezinstall/LINUX/tools/fix_X_config was not found on
this server.<P>
<P>Additionally, a 401 Authorization Required
error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle
the request.
<HR>
<ADDRESS>Apache/1.3.14 Server at updates.netraverse.com Port
443</ADDRESS>
</BODY></HTML>

What's going on here? No package installation should mess with
existing programs belonging to other packages. Nor should error
messages end up in /sbin.
