I'm not sure I understand your question.  I am using the "stock" RH 7.1
kernel 2.4.2-2 with VMWare.  During the Win4Lin 3.0 installation, it
patched this kernel.  It's the Win4Lin kernel that doesn't want to
cooperate with VMWare.
