Hi,

I have a Sony VIAO (PCG-F480K) laptop running a split partitioned hard disk
with Windows 2000 Pro and Redhat Linux version 7.1. This machine has two
Type-III PCMCIA slots and I am using a 3Com 3C589 10baseT card in one of
them. RH 7.1 is very happy with it.

The RH 7.1 installation is fairly vanilla and Win4Lin installed without a
hitch. Since installation and booting the win4lin kernel, I have discovered
the following problem on shutdown.

Once the network is stopped and the pcmcia software is stopped, I get the
following message repeatedly about every 10 seconds on the screen:

unregister-netdevice: waitinq for device to become free: usage count = 7

As the system completes the shutdown, the following messages are displayed:

umount2: device or resource busy
umount: /: device is busy
umount: / is busy
System halted.

and the system hangs without completing the shut down. Needless to say, /
is not unmounted properly and is marked as dirty forcing an fsck on startup.

Any ideas for a solution?
