A few months ago, while running Win4Lin 2.0, I tried to install Norton AntiVirus, Corporate Edition. This failed during setup with a message to the effect of "Error loading transman.dll." This was traced to the fact that Norton AV, for some odd reason needs an unomodified version of winsock.dll. Getting the original winsock out of the Windows CABs allowed the install, and allowed AV to run, but broke the IP connectivity. Replacing the winsock, installing, and then putting the win4lin winsock back worked, but then you actually ran AV, it locked up. I tried installing AV under 3.0, with the same message. I switched to VNET mode, and, lo and behold, the installation worked, live update worked, and right now Norton is scanning my windows "hard drive" very happily. Just FYI. j----- k----- -- Joshua Kugler, Information Services Director Associated Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks [EMAIL PROTECTED], 907-474-7601 _______________________________________________ Win4Lin-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.netraverse.com/mailman/listinfo/win4lin-users
