And obviously get rid of the D drive in the win4lin setup - you don't need
it because you just put a symlink to it on your desktop.

I tried this:

ln -s /jean/ /home/bagdanof/win/windows/Desktop/Ddrive

Is this what you meant?  /jean is the mountpoint for windows box.

I still get this error when I umounted /jean:

dos: ERROR: Cannot use the directory specified in the
configuration for drive d:
    /jean/Program Files/balance    
    Cannot continue.
