Well, I stand corrected. Here are my results:

[root@slick /root]# hdparm -t /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 30.05 seconds = 2.13
MB/sec

[root@slick /root]# hdparm -c 3 /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
 setting 32-bit I/O support flag to 3
 I/O support = 3 (32-bit w/sync)

[root@slick /root]# hdparm -t /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 8.97 seconds = 7.13
MB/sec

I guess I'll edit my /etc/rc.d/rc.local file now!

Thanks!
