I have not done any careful measurements, but my initial impression is
that on my computer Win98 now performs significantly better in the
context of Win4Lin 3.0.5 and the Win4Lin-RedHat 2.4.2-2 kernel than it
does in the context of Win4Lin 3.0.4 and the Win4Lin-RedHat 2.2.16-22
kernel.
Given that the performance of Win98 in the latter context is already
excellent, and given the complexity of the issues involved in the
transition from Linux 2.2.x to Linux 2.4.x, I think Win4Lin 3.0.5 is a
remarkable achievement.
I find it especially interesting that you did not have to re-patch the
kernel to solve this problem.
Will there be a Win4Lin-SuSE-2.4.4-4GB kernel?
Thank you.
