Hi all,

Does anybody use software that have their licence controlled by
Flexlm ?
I'm looking for hints about the settings of Win4Lin that would
affect the operation of Flexlm. For example does flexlm work if
I'm using vnet or winsock ? I've read in the manual that the
"native" win4lin winsock implementation is a little bit old.
Does this prevent flexlm from working ?

Also what about the license strategy. I think that whatever I
will do, I will have to change my license file. In this case,
I have choice between disc id based licensing and network card
hardware address based licensing.
In the case of winsock, I guess that the hardware address will
work but in the case of vnet, do I have a "virtual" hardware
address or this is still the one the the network card that is
used (in this last case, I'm not sure to understand how things
are working).
In both cases (vnet and winsock) I'm not sure the disc id based
license is a good idea. If I look at the id that is given to the
"C:" drive, it seems to me that it's a dummy one. Maybe in this
case, it is fixed and I do not have to worry about any risk of
loosing my license after a resinstallation.

Any comments/advices or ideas are welcome.

Best regards,

Jean-Marie
