And I'm trying to point out that - depending on circumstances, such as
corporate requirements - you can't.

Nope; I'm pointing out that saying "just use IMP/LDAP for mail", as you
stated, is a very over-simplified and non-feasible answer in many cases.

None of which is relevant to the original user's problem - which is that
he *needs* to be able to use Outlook 2K, since that has become his
company's standard email/groupware client.
Altho you should be able to use Outlook 2K on Win98, altho I haven't
actually tried it. I know Outlook itself runs.

I have 2 dozen folders under my mailbox, but not under my inbox, that do
NOT show up when I use OWA (5.5).

If Outlook is the mandated standard, as noted previously, there would be
no reason to activate LDAP on an Exchange, since it isn't required for
the mandated software. And you shouldn't run non-necessary services on
your servers, from a security stand-point. And you can't reasonably
expect corporate admin to support non-mandated software; you MIGHT be
able to. Or might NOT.
