Jarte runs in screen reader mode by default if a screen reader is running. This changes the user interface to make it screen reader friendly. Since it is built around the Wordpad engine, you can open and save rich and plain text documents, and, with the additional and separate office converter pack, open and save Word documents.

Hello everybody

Although Gordon and I own a copy of Jarte+ word processor already, I wanted to
look at the exclusive features page.

I had hoped I'd find something there about accessibility; but no, there's no
mention of it, not anywhere I can see on the site anyway.

If you're interested at all, you can find the information about the paid
version of Jarte, called Jarte Plus, here:
http://www.jarte.com/jarte_plus.html
The free version is also available on that website.

I wonder if it's screen-reader compatible or does it require work? Does it
handle Microsoft office documents properly? I would imagine so as it's being
apparently built around the Wordpad engine.
