Hi all

OK, I've just had a very ugly reminder of the reasons why I migrated away from
Windows in 2009. Now that I have reasons to use Windows again with my pending
employment prospects, I have been fortunate enough to have a license for Abbyy
FineReader Corporate Edition be bought for me by Lynne. But, although my HP
Scanjet PhotoSmart 2700 PFC is being seen as a printer, I cannot get it to be
seen as a scanner by FineReader. I've tried everything I can think of, but the
programme is just showing me, or rather, Window-Eyes is presenting me with
blank combo boxes from which I'm am supposed to select a driver. I have
absolutely no idea how many drivers are actually being listed there, so I just
had to keep trying. But after about a dozen failed attempts, I kind of gave up
on it.

So, I wonder if anybody has any suggestions as to how I can determine the
correct scanner and set it as the default? This machine is really nice, but I
do wish companies like Samsung would stop trying to take over the world, and
write so-called universal scanner drivers that don't work most of the time.

Anyway, suggestions welcome.

Gordon
