Hi David

Possibly I exaggerated slightly by using the term "Ancient". I'm not entirely
sure which version it is, but it came pre-installed on a thumb drive along with
the Infovox 3 speech engine and related utilities. So, I think I'd probably
best remove it just to be on the safe side. Now, can you answer another NVDA
related question? Is it possible to manipulate the mouse pointer with NVDA, in
a similar fashion to that of Window-Eyes? Or is it like Jaws used to be
whereby everything had to be keyboard compatible or else you're out of luck?

If your version of NVDA is truly ancient I would remove it .
Once the more modern version of NVDA is installed there is no longer any
need to remove NVDA as it will automate the whole update and upgrade
process.
However with the older versions it was certainly recommended that you remove
NVDA before trying a new one. This was several years back though.

Subject: Updating NVDA

Hi all

The version of NVDA on our machine is very old. If I were to install a new
version over the top of it, is that likely to create problems? Or else,
should I remove the ancient version of NVDA first, then re-install? I'm
just wondering whether the newest version would give me better access to OTS
DJ, for instance, than Window-Eyes does. For that matter, what about other
solutions? Is it worth while looking at the stand-alone version of System
Access 2 Go? I have no interest in their mobile network. I'd consider
Jaws, but I don't have any access to it other than in demo mode and that
holds no attraction for me.

Gordon
