Hello Dane and all
I admit the Tandem feature in Jaws is excellent for its purpose, to
provide support remotely to another Jaws user. This was one reason why I
bought Jaws back when it was version 10, plus a Sma, just so i can take
advantage of the Tandem function to help, amongst others, my best friend
who lives all the way in Bolton while I live in Derbyshire. I will
stress this is the only, and I mean only, time I really need Jaws. Other
than that it's Nvda for me. I also bought Window-Eyes in the hopes of
taking advantage of their Remote Assistance solution, but since later
versions of 7.5, all hopes were lost, since they now expect you or the
recipient to configure the router so that the ports are forwarded. This
is ridiculous in my view and shows the lack of respect between Gw Micro
and those who do not have a clue on how to forward ports. With Tandem,
it just works. Oh and I apologize in advance if I have offended
Window-Eyes fans on here.
Chris.

Hi!
I'd like to mention a feature of JAWS I've found most useful the past week, that's the
"Tandem" functionality which allows the connecting of 2 computers via the
Internet or a Local Network, obviously both computers in question must have JAWS
installed.
I know of another JAWS user in the States, we've been using the Tandem function
for a variety of reasons, the main being so he can show me much of what JAWS
has to offer in the way of features, flexibility and versatility as a Screen
Reader - Tom did all the work navigating round screens and software and I was
able to follow what Tom was doing given my computer and JAWS echoed his every
move through speech output and we were on the phone at the time of these
Tandem exercises -.
JAWS Tandem is very responsive and very easy to set up, the various dialogues
and Tandem functions explain themselves and connecting 2 machines is both fast
and simple.
Tom and I tried to connect 2 machines running Window-Eyes and the Remote
Connection facility offered by GW Micro, we're still trying to get a connection
established and I don't think its the firewall playing funny buggers at my end.
To be honest I think that's the thing I like about JAWS and its functions, all
functions - including JAWS Tandem - work - work well - and work as stated, no
if's and no but's.
