Again, you're talking across topics here, I'm not talking about Windows Remote Desktop, I'm talking about Remote Assistance andRemote Assistance is a Window-Eyes feature.
It has nothing whatever! To do with JAWS or JAWS Tandem. I'm not quite sure whether JAWS still charge extra for access to Windows Remote Desktop , I'll be checking but I was under the impression that the idea charging for Windows Remote Desktop had long past. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Gordon Smith Sent: Monday, 22 April 2013 11:38 AM To: Windows Access; Share Your Enthusiasm! Subject: Re: JAWS tandem Hello Chris Just to be clear, the Window-Eyes remote assistance function is, always has been and, I believe, always will be free if you have a Window-Eyes Pro licence. As for it not working, I'm sorry but that's pure "Science Fiction", as one user might put it, or maybe I should say it is pure "fantasy". It actually works very well indeed. Well enough, in fact, for one particular person who I won't name here in the UK to be using it commercially as part of his over-priced and over-rated "Computer Maintenance" contract with other members who he doesn't mind screwing for £10.00 per hour even without leaving his desk. :) Kind regards <--- Gordon Smith ---> <[email protected]> Telephone: United Kingdom: Free Phone: 0800 8620538 Mobile: +44 7907 823971 Europe and other non-specified: +44 1642 688095 United States Of America And Canada: +1 646 9151493 / +1 209 436 9443 Vic. They were going to charge for the service, but for now it's free for all those who are offering the help, otherwise known as a controller. You of course would need a Jaws license to use Tandem on the controller side but, and this is a big but, using Tandem on the target side is completely free, even if you are just using it in 40 minute mode. Now that says so much about Window-Eyes! > Chris. > > On 21/04/2013 12:00, Mrs. Lynnette Annabel Smith wrote: >> Hello Chris >> >> Is this a standard function of Jaws now? I always understood it to cost extra. However, Gordon has had great success with Window-Eyes in this regard although yes, it does involve making a slight change to your router's configuration in most case. >> >> Lynne >> >> On 14 Apr 2013, at 08:42, chris h (sky) <[email protected]> wrote: >> >>> I admit the Tandem feature in Jaws is excellent for its purpose, to provide support remotely to another Jaws user. This was one reason why I bought Jaws back when it was version 10, plus a Sma, just so i can take advantage of the Tandem function to help, amongst others, my best friend who lives all the way in Bolton while I live in Derbyshire. I will stress this is the only, and I mean only, time I really need Jaws. Other than that it's Nvda for me. I also bought Window-Eyes in the hopes of taking advantage of their Remote Assistance solution, but since later versions of 7.5, all hopes were lost, since they now expect you or the recipient to configure the router so that the ports are forwarded. This is ridiculous in my view and shows the lack of respect between Gw Micro and those who do not have a clue on how to forward ports. With Tandem, it just works. Oh and I apologize in advance if I have offended Window-Eyes fans on here. >> >> >> ======================================= >> >> To post to this group, please send your message to: >> [email protected] >> The Windows-Access E-Mail forum is guaranteed malware, spyware, >> Trojan, virus and worm-free >> >> To modify your subscription options, please visit your personalise >> subscriber options page, located at >> http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/mailman/listinfo/windows-access >> >> You can find an archive of all messages posted to the Windows-Access forum at either of the following websites: >> http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/pipermail/windows-access/index.html >> Or: >> <http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]> >> >> you may also subscribe to this list via RSS.
