Hi! Subject line says it all.
Before I go into details I'd best describe what Airfoil actually does. Airfoil is a utility that "hijacks" a sound or video source on your computer and streams that via your Wi-Fi network to another computer, device, Airplay compatible speakers and so forth. For example, you might want to stream the current songs Winamp is playing to your iPhone, Airfoil can "Hijack" the output of the Winamp player and stream to your iPhone so you can listen to the music on that through the iPhone's internal speaker, headphones or whatever, to receive the stream you use the "Airfoil Speakers" IOS app, its also available for Android devices. You can control the stream from the device the stream is being received upon in most cases, the control usually allows you to increase/decrease volume, skip between tracks - where available - etc. I've been using Airfoil for 5 years now though I've not often used the Windows version due to accessibility problems but these have - to a certain extent - been fixed. For example you can now tab to the "Source" menu button and select the desired source to stream. selecting the target of your stream is done by press the control key along with 1 of the number keys on the top row - excluding the number 1 key which streams to the source computer, handy for testing purposes -. Unfortunately - at this time - there is no way of actually knowing which devices capable of reception are connected through your network, they are displayed on the Airfoil screen but not visible to a Screen Reading package as far as I know so you're going to have to do a little guess work here but if you know what devices you've deliberately activated for reception then the job is not so difficult, just a matter of pressing ctrl with a number from 2 to 9, to deactivate a receiver just press the number combination again. You may also need to spend a little time adjusting your Firewall so that Airfoil can receive information from other computers and devices on your network, if you get stuck you can find plenty of information in the Airfoil For Windows knowledge base. Airfoil comes with the "Airfoil Speakers", this app turns your computer into a pair of wireless speakers so another computer or device can stream data, you might have a fairly decent pair of speakers connected to your computer and wish to stream your music collection from your iPhone for instance. and finally, Airfoil for Windows is not free ware, it costs around $35.00 and a discout package is available for those who run multiple operating systems such as Windows and OSX. ********** Dane Trethowan Skype: grtdane12 Phone US (213) 438-9741 Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 ********** Dane Trethowan Skype: grtdane12 Phone US (213) 438-9741 Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 ======================================= To post to this group, please send your message to: [email protected] The Windows-Access E-Mail forum is guaranteed malware, spyware, Trojan, virus and worm-free To modify your subscription options, please visit your personalise subscriber options page, located at http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/mailman/listinfo/windows-access You can find an archive of all messages posted to the Windows-Access forum at either of the following websites: http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/pipermail/windows-access/index.html Or: <http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]> you may also subscribe to this list via RSS.
