I don't know if this will help or obfuscate, but I have been running
juno in unmanaged mode since before there was a managed mode, but with
Wine-20000614 it started crashing with Bad Value.  When run with
--desktop it runs without errors.  I think it has to do with
zero-dimensioned windows (does X not like these?  What is the sense of
creating a window 0 pixels wide and 0 pixels high? ) but I haven't
really run it down yet.
